Spotify app displays wrong captions and buttons

Solved!

Spotify app displays wrong captions and buttons

I upgraded to the latest spotify apps on my iPad and IPhone and noticed that on both the Spotify app opens up with incorrect button captions and songs appear erroneously. For example:

Search becomes sSearchTitle
Browse becomes sBrowseTitle
Inbox becomes sInboxPlaylist

Under my playlists instead of showing the song count I can read sPlaylistLabelSongCount.

Absolutely all labels including the settings are deformed in the same manner.

Tried deleting the app and reinstalling but I get the same errors.

Can anyone help? I get this on both my iPhone 5s and iPad mini. Both run the latest iOS.
I am a premium subscriber.

Thanks

Hey everyone! This should now be fixed in the latest iOS update 2.1.0. Please let us know if you're still having trouble after that update.

Thanks again!

That's extremely bizarre that you have this issue across both your Apple devices. I don't seem to be having it on my phone. Have you tried logging in and out a couple of times?

I logged in and out, resinstalled the app multiple times. I am attaching a screenshot of my Spotify.
Any ideas? This is driving me nuts. It started doing this after the app update one or two weeks ago. I thought they would release another update to fix it.

What is the language set to on your iPhone and iPad? Those labels look like the sort of thing that would normally be replaced with relevant words/phrases in a particular language and, if the language is not English, it is possible that Spotify's translations for that language are broken and causing that text to appear.

By his name, I assume he is Romanian, just like me. I have the exact same problem on my iPad. If I change the system language to English or French, Spotify will display correctly. But I like keeping my iPad in Romanian and I think it´s not normal that an app forces me to select a particular language for the whole system.

Even worse, changing the prefered language order in Settings - General - Language and region does not help.

Spotify, please do something!

I think the issue is Spotify is not available in Romania so it doesn't have Romanian language support currently although I would have thought it should default to English. I'm asking someone from Spotify to look into this for you.

Hey @AdiPetrescu & @user-removed could you please both confirm the following so we can look into this:

1. Device(s) this is happening with

2. Device OS

3. Spotify app version

4. Language setting on your device

5. Language setting in Spotify

Thank you!

Thank you @Meredith for your quick response.

Here's my setup:

  1. It's happening on my iPad, 3rd generation. I don't have an iPhone, but I assume it would be the same.
  2. I'm currently running iOS 8.1, but it used to happen just the same on iOS 7.
  3. Spotify version 1.8.1.8
  4. My device is in Romanian, with my other preferred langages being English and French. For comparison, Facebook defaults to English (or French if I place it above English in my regional settings).
  5. I'm afraid I don't get this question very well... There is no language option in my Spotify app on iOS, as that would have solved the problem already. My account has been created and is mainly used in Belgium and the website is currently displayed in French. The desktop app is in English. My Windows Phone app is in English, too. However, for the web and the desktop application, I can change the language at any time.

Here are a few screenshots of the Spotify app on my iPad.

I have just received the update notification for the Spotify app on my iPad and I was impatient to check the new interface. I was hoping the language problem would be solved. However...

Hey @AdiPetrescu

The team was able to get the same bug to show for them and they are looking into it.

Thanks for the report.
