Spotify distorts from iPhone 6 but my music does not!

Hi All

I'm really hoping that someone can help me out here.

I have finally got myself an Arcam rdock uni, this is attached to a squeezebox radio via 2xrca to 3.5mm Jack. I have spotify premium.
Almost all my spotify tracks, whether playlists, saved or on the fly sound completely distorted, even at low volumes. I thought it must be the squeezebox radio, but this plays at much higher volumes using its inbuilt Internet radio or connected to my vortexbox without any distortion.
So I decided to play the music saved on my iPhone, this again plays perfectly through the sb radio.

I usually use the extreme quality setting, but have tried the lower quality settings and all distort, also tried changing the cables etc - all the same result. Spotify works fine through my airport express/hifi and pc and Mac.

Unfortunately, this bedroom system is where I listen to spotify the most, so unless I can get this resolved, it looks like I'll have to cancel my subscription, which would be awful as I love spotify.
