Spotify erratically pause and restarts in 3-5 sec’s

Spotify erratically pause and restarts in 3-5 sec’s

Premium user, iPhone XS max, latest ios, listening on 2 HomePods

Had problem last 2-3 months. Listening on iPhone is OK, HomePods not. Have tried deleting/reloading app, restarting phone and ‘log out everywhere’ on website. Doesn’t solve the problem. Anyone who can help?

Hey there @erlingrid,

Thanks for reaching out about this here in the Community! No worries - we're here to help 🙂

On top of the steps you already tried, we’d also recommend a clean reinstall, rebooting your device, router, as well as the HomePods and make sure that all devices are up to speed with any software updates.

For more help and troubleshooting tips with your HomePod, visit the Apple support site.

Keep in mind that HomePod is currently not a Spotify Connect compatible device - If you'd like to see this change in the future, you can add your vote to this idea to show your support.

The Community team is actively bringing your feedback to the internal teams at Spotify - check how here

Cheers!

@Xenia This answer keeps getting thrown out but it's more frustrating every time. The problem is not with Apple or Homepods. Everything else plays perfectly on the speakers until we try to play anything from Spotify. We keep getting pointed to that thread about Spotify Connect, but nothing ever happens. The thread has far surpassed the 500 votes necessary to get assigned a category but nothing has happened in months. There is a ridiculous number of people who have this issue that makes Spotify legitimately unusable. Every other major music platform supports Homepods but for some reason Spotify has refused to even so much as acknowledge that this is an issue for thousands of people other than say "go vote for this idea!" We don't even need Homepods to be a Spotify Connect device, even fixing AirPlay would allow us to at least stream to Homepods, but nope. Spotify still uses the outdated AirPlay 1 which is why we can't listen to a song without it glitching every few seconds. That's all we want.

Hey @timrwild

Thanks for reaching out about this.

We understand where you're coming from. However, keep in mind that it's important to add your vote to this idea if this is something you'd like to see in the future.

We really value your feedback as it helps inform our decisions going forward, and will make sure to pass it onto the right folks.

If anything else comes up, don't hesitate to let us know.

Cheers.
