Spotify has Given Up, Someone please HELP.

Solved!

Spotify has Given Up, Someone please HELP.

Hey all,

So Spotify's support is absolute garbage.  They literally gave up on my issue.  Want the quote?  "We're sorry that in this case we're unable to fix this from our side, but we hope you continue to enjoy other features on the Spotify app."  Yeah, awesome, I want an app that doesn't work as advertised.  Fantastic.

Anyway, my issue that maybe SOMEONE could help me with - My local music won't download to my iPhone.  And when I say local music, I mean stuff that I had on disks that Spotify doesn't carry.  I own an iPhone 6 and a MacBook Pro mid 2012 running Version 10.12 (16A323).  My music should be (and has once before) downloaded to my iPhone, but it won't.

The last time I got it to work, I had to factory restore my phone.  That did not work this time or the two subsequent times I tried it.  Can someone help?!

BUT WAIT.  You might be one of those people who thinks it's helpful to respond if you have the same problem and haven't solved it.  YOU'RE WRONG.  ONLY RESPOND IF YOU HAVE A POTENTIAL FIX OR AN INQUIRY.  I can't believe some people like to chime in with "Oh that's weird."  Yeah, Sherlock, it is weird.  Everyone hates that guy.

Guess what?  Freaking SOLVED my issue.  Sort of.  It's still very much broken, but there's a jerry rigged way to get around it.  Essentially, my issue is the same.  I can't download local files as the app intends you to, as they won't show up on my phone period.  However, the workaround is this.

1) Play the local file on another device (laptop is what I used).

2) Have your account active on mobile.

3) On mobile, go down to the 'Now Playing' tab at the bottom of the screen.

4) Click the options button (ellipses) and click 'Save'

From there, it downloads.  Downside is you have to do it one at a time, so getting my 50+ local files on my phone was a bit of a pain in the **bleep**.  HOPEFULLY THEY FIX THE ISSUE.  Also hopefully this helps anyone else with this problem.

Hey @Brandilio,

Please bear in mind that the Community is not an official Spotify support service. I'd recommend reaching out to Spotify Support again and telling them that you still need help and that their reply did not solve your issue.

Thanks!

I did that.  They just repeated what I quoted.  They weren't able to replicate the issue, so they give hope and hope I continue using their service.

Hmm. I'll escalate your post to the moderators and will let you know when I hear back.

Thanks for your patience!

I'd recommend taking a look at this support article about having trouble with local files: https://support.spotify.com/using_spotify/troubleshooting2/im-having-trouble-with-my-local-files/

Nothing listed inside the link worked.  I thought the reason might be because I had an update, but sure enough, nothing changed.  I mean, I don't get why this is happening.  Like I said last time, a full factory reset did it for some reason, after factory resetting twice today, nothing.

I'm honestly getting ready to ditch this thing for good.

Hey @Brandilio,

We're really sorry to hear this.

We can see that you're already in touch with our email team. In this case, we would recommend checking back there as they'll be happy to help.

We've passed all of your feedback and comments directly onto the right folks too.

In the meantime, can you check:

- That both devices are on the same WiFi
- That you have UPNP enabled on your router

- That your internet service provider doesn't have anything blocking/preventing Spotify permissions

- That both devices are awake/active at the time

Keep us in the loop,

Thanks.

/M
