Hey all,
So I've read up on this problem I'm having, I have seen that Spotify for iOS4 as an app had been removed and the normal Spotify app should recognize your iOS version and download the compatible version of spotify.
Sadly this does not seem to be working for me, I have a 2nd Gen iPod Touch 16gb version 4.2.1 , and when I try downloading spotify it says the app needs at least iOS 6,but my iPod can't update further then 4.2.1.
How do I get spotify to work on my iPod, is it still possible?
I have a pioneer car-radio with iPod function which works heavenly, but I would love to have my spotify playlists punching through the subwoofer 😉

Been trying to get some more information on this, the Spotify team are aware the looking into it. Guessing you have never had the Spotify app installed on that device before?

I am having the same issue, I have recently bought a second hand ipod touch 2nd gen, to use spotify in my car.
It has been restored to factory settings, and therefore does not have any other versions of spotify.
If i try to install from the app store it tell me i need ios 6 (ipod touch 2nd gen will only go to 4).
The other link of spotify for ios 4 has dissapeared!
This is really frustrating as i bought the ipod for this reason and took out the subscription, and it doesn't work!
I actually had the Spotify for iOS 4 on it before, but due to the error-19 on my radio i had to reset the iPod, and now the Spotify for iOS 4 is gone.
Just a quick update to say i tried the app store again, and it came up with the option this time to download an earlier version!
I am happy now i can finally use my ipod touch 2nd gen for spotify in my car!
Excellent, thanks for letting us know @cazza1013 😄

Still not working for me, i'll try every now and then perhaps it'll work out of nowhere
You just have to try to download it a couple times, and eventually it will work 🙂
I thought it was a very dumb comment, but not all at! You really have to try to download it three or four times through the appstore on your ipod. THe first few times it refuses to download it and says that you need ios 7. But then after some tries the option to download an earlier version will appear and it will install it. Works great and can sync songs.
