My Question or Issue
Spotify is not playing through bluetooth headphones on apple watch. Headphones are not appearing in device list. This happens when watch is connected to phone or if phone is in airplane mode. The headphones play podcasts via apple podcast app so they are correctly connected to the watch and working fine. Other devices are available to be selected when watch is connected to phone (e.g. Sonor speaker).
All OS are up to date. I have tried reinstalled spotify on the watch and the phone so app is up to date as well.
Hey @werdna101,
Thanks for posting in the Community.
Could you try repairing the headphones to the watch and repairing the watch to the phone as well?
We think this might bring some change.
Let us know how that went,
Cheers!
Hi,
I am experiencing the same issue with a similar set up.

I have tried the above suggestion to re-pair both the earphones and watch itself, however the watch is still not showing as a device I can play through.
Has anyone found a solution?
Hi there @PengiPower,
Thanks for reaching out. Could you send us some screenshots of what exactly appears in the connect list on both your phone and the watch? Also, if you're playing through the watch itself, does the issue still occur?
Keep us posted.
Having the same issue. Just upgraded to premium solely to be able to use the Apple Watch directly with bluetooth devices. Watch is paired to bluetooth device but that device doesn't appear on list of devices on Spotify app on the watch.
Hey there @Didenpx,
Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community.
Could you let us know which troubleshooting steps you've already tried? That way we can avoid repeating any steps.
Also, would you mind sending us the info @Kiril asked for previously?
We'll be on the lookout.

restarted watch phone reinstalled app on my watch. Still doesn’t recognize my headphones as a device to play music on.
very frustrating since the trouble shooting in your website said to get premium as the solution to play from the watch and it still does not work.
Hey @Bf13,
Thanks for getting in touch about this and welcome to the Community.
Could you let us know if the same happens while using different Bluetooth devices as well?
On another note, we suggest that you check if the OS of your phone is up to date.
Keep us posted.
I’m facing the same issue. I have an Apple Watch series 8 LTE (latest iOS version) and cannot play music to the earphones directly from the watch. Do I must be premium to have that feature?
Hey @DiogoBaptista,
Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the conversation.
To stream directly from your Watch, it's necessary to have a Premium subscription. Free service customers cannot stream directly to or listen offline on the watch. However, you can use your Watch to control Spotify on other devices. Remember that you can still stream music from your mobile app to your Watch as well.
We'd recommend taking a look at our Premium plans to enhance your listening experience following this link 🙂
Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, the Community will be here for you.
Hi,
I am having the same issue. I am a Premium subscriber, I have tried reinstalling and re-pairing, I have tried playing podcasts through the bluetooth earbuds (it works). None of this works and it is a really important feature for me. Is there any fix on this?
Same issue here, please come with a solution Spotify !
Same issue, needs solution. I can hear my watch clickety clack in my earbuds, so I know it is connected, but in spotify there is no way to select the earbuds to hear music.
Connect your headphones to your Apple Watch in settings.
In Spotify select your Apple Watch in devices and it plays through your headphones.
Not sure why some folks here are gaslighting. This is a real issue and happens to multiple people. Apple watch is connected and my sony headphones show up on the list in spotify. Upon tapping it, it fails to play. Happens on latest OS. I can't use spotify on apple watch at all at this point. Fails 100% of the time. I've re-paired and even factory reset the watch. All other apps work fine.
I’m having the same issue. Worked perfectly the first time and since then nothing works. Headphones are paired to watch as running app still sends notifications through them. Have tried putting phone in airplane mode as I was struggling to get the watch app to play through the headphones. Watch app controls Spotify on my iPhone and in the car but won’t let me press play with my headphones
