Spotify on Carplay enters speech mode

Spotify on Carplay enters speech mode

Device: iPhone11 Pro

Operating System

(iOS 10, Android Oreo, Windows 10,etc.)

 

So I have been using carplay with spotify on my BMW 330e for a couple months now, and out of nowhere today, music playback turns into speech mode, which essentially is the mode carplay goes into for calls and stuff this means music is played at an extremely low volume with no acoustics... This makes the experience unbearable! I know for a fact this is a Spotify issue since I have tried it with apple music as well as some other apps and none of them have this issue. I would hate to have to switch over from Spotify just because of this issue. Is there any workaround? Here is what I have tried:

- Restarting spotify

- Restarting my phone

- Restarting iDrive (my cars MMI)

- Restarting my car

- Removed my phone from my cars devices

- Removed my car from my phones devices

- Checked for updates on both my car and phone as well as spotify...

 

So before anyone tries to suggest me things, please consider the things I have tried above. I would greatly appreciate any help!

Of the 30 minutes I had to drive today with this issue, it almost convinced me to move to apple music which I really do not want to do 😕

The troubleshooting steps that you've tried so far are very good. We'd like to add a few more.

 

We'd suggest yo give these steps a go and run a clean reinstall. This one is more thorough than the usual one.

 

It's also a good idea to try with another device. That way we can check if it's a device-related issue. Are there any changes?

 

You can also send us a video recording of the issue. We'll look into this further.

I just did a clean install and will monitor the playback over the next few days and report back. Thank you for the support 🙂
