I followed these steps and it still didn't fix the problem for me (in fact, now the app takes longer to connect). The problem started within the last two or three days. It all began when I was listening to a playlist song (online mode) and it stopped at about 1:30. I touched the blue dot and it immediately started playing again. Then it stopped again after another 30 seconds or so. I touched the dot again and it resumed. At the end of the song, it did not automatically go to the next song on the playlist. I manually advanced to the next track, but it wouldn't play at all and there was no blue button. After that, none of the tracks would play -- even outside of my playlists, and the only way to get anything playing was to restart the app. I tried syncing everything, changing quality settings, and using in offline mode, but nothing helped. I tried reinstalling the app. No good. I tried recreating the playlist. No good. Something is definitely buggy. Spotify version is 0.5.5.23.g3ea51c3a
My PC version is working fine. Haven't tried the OSX or iPad versions yet.
Hope you get this fixed soon.
I switched to shuffle play and the app still shut down after a minute or so. But I then opened it again with it NOW IN SHUFFLE PLAY MODE. This seems to work. Don't know why but on my ipod touch using Spotify 4 for the IOS 4 it is now OK.
Thinking back to about three months ago when I first used it I chose shuffle play and didn't have any problems for a couple of months. As far as I can recall, I switched shuffle off and I think that started the app closing itself down. Not 100% sure but if this fix works, I shall look forward to my free lifetime subscription from Spotify for the vital clue in fixing something that has been upsetting a lot of users.
I posted this in a similar discussion. My email replies from the support team are prompt but not really addressing the issue so far ie they seem to run out standard replies but I will see if they can focus on the problem as they are good at replying. My other post :-

This has been an ongoing issue for me for about a month. I'm actually cancelling my premium account as of now because the app is useless for me. If you ever fix the problem, I'll come back.
This is also a problem for me, but just with the iPad. It started happening recently.
I actually have this problem for over a month, still not fixed. Getting rather irritated, i'm just going stop my subscription.
YAY! The re-install solution worked!
Hi all---I've been having the same problem, for about two weeks. (I live in the US.) I've also tried reinstalling the app, but to no avail. I hope there will be a fix soon!
Still working for me. Did you switch to shuffle and then it still turned off? If so, switch the app on again now in shuffle mode. Then see if it stays on. Share your frustration tho'. I'm using 2nd gen ipod touch ios 4.

This did _NOT_ work for me ...
So sick of all these App-breaking glitches that spotify has.
I also have the issue where after about 30seconds of playing a song it freezes and no other songs can be played. I am paying monthly for an app that i only get to use about a 1/4 of a month becuase the other 3 weeks something is wrong. I absolutely love my music and when working spotify is freaking amazing. Please bring out a fix for this problem ASAP or i will have to find a substitute for Spotify.
P.S. I am from Australia.
Everytime I lisetn to music from the app on my iPhone the song stops randomly. No set time. It stops like 1-5 times each song and I can only start it again by going a little forward or backward on the timeline. This is really annoying 'cause I have to take out my phone ALL the time if I want to listen to music. Problem occured in the update before the last one and the new update changed nothing. I'm paying for premium because I can use it on phone. But what is the point when I really can't?
It's day 11 now!! still not been sorted out now.... There is nothing that I can do with the app. I'd like my subscription refunded for last month. Moderator, you can contact me via 'spotifycares' / support@spotify.com - I've passed my details onto them.
got the exact same problems here...plays for about a minute then stops, if i scroll on the progressbar it works for a short time, but after that it wont play any songs, either offline, radio or anything...
Got this app and premium subscription for 2 years... Never get n trouble until this morning: exactly the same problem described in this topic...Stop playing tracks after less than a minute...
