Still using data?

Still using data?

Hello! Operating on an iPhone XR with IOS 14, premium user. When cellular data is switched off (and I’ve made sure of it) Spotify still gives me the option and ability to listen to anything; downloaded or not. Seeing as I don’t have infinite data to stream music out and about, how do I go about toggling this issue? I’ve tried deleting the app once, and Spotify is the only one who refuses to behave accordingly to its data setting. Thank you!

Hey @vampiresuture, welcome to the Community.

Hope you're doing great!

That is strange.

Still, to send Spotify offline go to Settings > Playback and toggle the Offline option.

Let me know how that goes 🙂

Hey it’s happening to me too, this is recent like stated 2 weeks ago

Hey there @9_cayhj-8k58f,

Thank you for your post.

Can you confirm if you followed the steps that was provided by @Loxer?

You can also try with another internet connection to see if the issue persists.

If that doesn't do the trick - we suggest that you perform a clean reinstall of the app to make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

Can you let us know if this occurs on one specific device or multiple devices?

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Cheers 🙂

Yesterday I turned off all data for Spotify, open the app, search a JRE podcast, in my iOS settings Spotify was on 0 cellular usage, checked after 1 minute and looked like this:

Hey again @9_cayhj-8k58f,

Thank you for your reply and for your screenshot.

Can you reset your phone?

If that doesn't do the trick - can you sign in with another account on the device - such as a friend's or a family member's to see if the issue persists?

Also - it would be great if you'd let us know which version of the app you have.

Keep us posted 🙂

Cheers!

Hey @9_cayhj-8k58f,

Thank you for your reply and screenshot.

The best option is to have Offline Mode on when you don't want to listen to content over Wi-Fi or data and switch it back off when you're connected to a network they can use with no limitations.

Can you let us know if you still see data used when you're offline?

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Cheers!
