The Spotify app on my iPhone keeps connecting to various devices that I’ve deliberately forgotten.

The Spotify app on my iPhone keeps connecting to various devices that I’ve deliberately forgotten.

I have an iPhone Xr with iOS 13.7. In the Spotify app and through Bluetooth, I have connected to my stereo system, my Echo Dot, my MacBook, and my mom’s Echo. I’ve connected to a few other devices over the years, but I’ve since “forgot” them through both the iPhone settings and the Spotify app settings. Yet, somehow, every single time my mom plays music on her Echo when I’m listening to music on my phone or through my speaker or stereo via Bluetooth, my phone connects to her Echo. I have forgotten her device many, many times I’ve the last few months but it doesn’t work. It’ll connect even if my Bluetooth is off. It’ll connect even if the app is closed. I have to keep Bluetooth turned off at home or my phone will automatically connect to the damn Echo.

My sister recently received her friend’s first generation Echo Dot, and my phone connects to that too, even though I’ve literally never connected to it! I’m really at a loss on what to do, as I can’t find any information on this problem anywhere. Can someone please help me before I lose my mind?

Hey there @Pigeon_Table!

Thank you for your post. Apologies for the delayed response, we just came across this thread.

If you've forgotten the Bluetooth connections, it's possible that it starts playing because of the Connect function.

If you're still experiencing this we'd recommend heading to Settings > Devices > Show Local Devices.

We'll be on the lookout for your update if this works better. Give us a shout if you have any further questions.
