Two devices conflicting on family plan

My kid’s phone and mine are on different accounts in the family plan but if I play music it plays through his device and vice versa. If I stop the music on both devices and get music playing on one, if I then start another song on the second device it will play through the other. Both are set to “This iPhone” in settings.

Thanks for reaching out.

Can you please launch the Spotify app on both iPhones, then head into the app's Settings > Account. Does it show the same username and email address there or is it different?
