My Question or Issue

Hello all, 

I was recently trying to solve an issue where Spotify would crash whenever I tried playing certain playlists. I decided to reinstall the app, and while this would solve the problem temporarily, the playlists continued to crash after a while. However, the last time I tried to reinstall, Spotify came back with a white background and gray cross-cross line icon instead of the regular Spotify logo. I tried deleting again, restarting my phone, etc. But it keeps coming back, even when it seems I've deleted it. I tried to delete it from settings (general - storage), but it won't even show up there. The app store says it's already installed... so I cannot even try reinstalling it. 

 

How can I resolve this issue?

Could you try these steps and run a clean reinstall? This one is more thorough than the usual one. It's also a good idea to make sure that all the necessary permissions are enabled for the app.

 

If the issue persists, you can send us a screenshot of how the app looks on your phone. We'll investigate this further.

Hey @Ver, 

Thanks for taking the time to read my post and provide a solution. 

Unfortunately, I could not perform a clean reinstall of my app, as it requires for me to be able to open the Spotify app, something I cannot currently do. 

The picture attached shows how the app currently looks on my home screen.

Thanks for getting back to us and for the screenshot.

 

In that case, could you let us know if the issue persists if you remove the app for your iPhones storage and reinstall it? Just start the instructions that @Ver posted from step two. Don't forget to restart your device, this is a very effective, but often overlooked step.

Thank you for your response. 

The problem is, I can't quite find Spotify on my list of apps in General --> Storage. I noticed the apps were loading somewhat slowly on the list so I waited about five minutes total to see if Spotify would show up, but still no. 

Please let me know what else I can try!

Just to cover all our bases, did you try restarting your phone? Let us know if that makes any difference.

Thanks so much for providing a suggestion. I had already tried to restart my phone, and nevertheless, the app continued to look the way it does on the screenshot I provided. 

 

But I can now tell you that once I updated my phone to IOS 14.3, the Spotify app disappeared as it should and I was able to redownload on the app store. 

 

My guess is that it wasn't an issue with the app, but instead my phone. All seems to work as of now-- but thank you so much for all of your help!!
