Unable to tell what song is playing.

Recently having changed to Spotify as my default music app I was really enjoying it until suddenly I have been unable to tell exactly what song is playing. It does not show it across the bottom of my screen, nor on the widget on my iPhone. It recognises Spotify is playing but no song name appears, nor am I able to skip part way through a song etc. How can I fix this??

My first question would be have you already done a clean reinstall of the app? That usually clears up any buggy issues like this.
