Using my phone as a remote causes a heap of issues

Using my phone as a remote causes a heap of issues

This has been a problem for years, when I use my phone has a remote to skip tracks to stop and start, etc while listening on my desktop after a while I get a ton of issues. Almost like it lags behind. Both are on the same network and account. Songs don’t show correct information, sometimes it just won’t play the song at all, other times it will shut down entirely and become unusable. I have to restart Spotify twice on my phone to get the music player to show up again.

iOS 17.5.1

Another thing is that my friend also experiences this issue when using her android phone (unsure the make/model) as a remote while listening on PS5. For her the entire app crashes and becomes unusable. Wasn’t sure if this was an ongoing fix or not.

Hi there @AfterFall,

Thanks for reaching out to the Community and welcome!

If Spotify Connect is working correctly, the first thing we'd recommend is restarting both devices and your router. You can also check if this happens with a different internet connection. A mobile hotspot is usually a convenient way to test this.

If that doesn't help, make sure both devices are up-to-date. If they are, then it's best to reinstall the Spotify app on both devices. You can follow the steps here. No worries, you won't lose any content, but you might need to download your offline music again.

Lastly, if the issue persists send over the make, model, and OS on your desktop. As well as the Spotify version you're running on both devices.

If your friend is having issues with the app, you can tell them to create a thread, and we'll take a look.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.
