What happened to "Up Next"?

What happened to "Up Next"?

In the latest iOS update it seems I've lost the "Up Next" function that allowed me to see the songs in my queue. What happened to this functionality -- I loved it and don't understand why it might have been eliminated. I'm using 9.1.230.

That feature appeared to be part of a beta test which has now ended from what I can gather (since the feature isn't released yet). Don't worry, it should make its way into the public application in the future!

Well actually I don't think it was a beta test, as the "Up Next" queue was announced as part of the 7.1 release in July.  See below. This was a great feature that in my mind really elevated the iOS app above the iPhone's native music app. I hope it reappears soon!

What's new in this version (0.7.1):

  • New: Ever find yourself wondering what to play on Spotify? Introducing the new Discover experience on iPhone. (Coming soon to everyone.)
  • New: A shiny, new Now Playing view, featuring the 'Up Next' queue on iPhone. (Again, rolling out to everyone soon.)
  • New: Say hello to our new logo.
  • New: You can now edit your playlists on your iPhone.
  • Improved: Weโ€™ve changed the order of the iPhone search tabs. Now itโ€™s Artists, Albums, Tracks. (iPhone/iPod only.)
  • Improved: Weโ€™ve moved the โ€ฆ context menu button in the Playlist and Album views to the top right of the screen. Itโ€™s better there. (iPhone/iPod only.)
  • Fixed: Ford integration now works correctly when your iPhone/iPod is set to a language other than English.
  • Fixed: In your playlist folders, "All Tracks" will now show you the actual number of tracks.
  • Fixed: Weโ€™ve sorted lots of crash issues too.
  • Fixed: The unread messages in your inbox will now update correctly.
  • Fictitious: This app shares 73% of its DNA with bees.

Yeah I do remember that, but the feature never made its way out to everyone for some reason, not sure why!

Was it really buggy?  I just don't get the very slow rollout of features.  In this case, it was announced as coming soon to everyone around 5 months ago.

In my epxerience it was not buggy, it worked great. Hopefully we will all be seeing it -- or some version of it -- soon.

hopefully they rectify this situation soon, like before my 7 day premium trial membership expires. So far Apple Music has beat Spotify as far as user friendliness and functionality. At this stage of the game, Spotify should be at par with Apple Music , otherwise people will immediate go to what does work.
