Why does spotify pause any other streaming music app as soon as I open it?

When I am playing soundcloud, as soon as I open the spotify app, without pressing play, it automatically stops my soundcloud. This is extremely frustrating and did not happen last week. This just started with the last update.

In this case, we suggest you start off with a clean reinstall of the app on your smartphone. By doing that, the app can be up-to-date, and you can make sure the cache is not leading to this inconvenience. You can find the steps for doing it here.

If the above doesn't do the trick, would you mind sharing with us the exact make/model and OS of the affected device, along with the Spotify version you're running there?

Lastly, just to confirm, since you mentioned this started to happen after an update, did you mean an OS update for your device or a Spotify update?

When I listen to a radio station, for example the Kink FM app (in the netherlands), and i then open spotify to put a song i heard in a playlist, the music stops playing on the radio.

It also happens when I play music on another app. The moment I open spotify, it stops playing on the other app.

Is there a way to turn this off? At that moment I just want to serch for music and NOT play it.

The same is happening to me. If I have any sound playing from another app, as soon as I start Spotify I go to the search tab, my sound is paused. I guess this happens. Exaucé Spotify is playing those TikTok like videos (muted).
