Why is the search bar in the likes songs playlist for the app gone? iPhone

For some reason, I can no longer pull down on the likes songs playlist to get the search bar. Also, why did Spotify remove the heart icon for when you like songs? Personally I liked that better.

I had Like a Stone by Audioslave stuck in my head and opened the app to play it. I went to Liked Songs and was absolutely flabbergasted to find that search had been removed. I’m almost never bugged by app changes but this is the first time a CRUCIAL feature has been removed. I don’t know who thought this was a good idea but this drastically reduced my bias towards Spotify, I use this feature constantly and can’t believe that it’s gone. Please don’t remove critical features from the app. 

I am on an iPhone 14 Pro Max with a Premium account.

I completely agree and relate that this is the first time for me aswell that such a handy feature was removed. I noticed the search feature is still available for other playlists, so why remove it for the liked songs? Really hope Spotify brings it back.

Maybe I'm missing something but I'm trying to sort my playlists so they don't keep putting the new songs at the end and while I've been told i can swipe down on the open playlist, it doesn't actually do anything? I've used the function before but when i try to do so in a playlist, nothing happens. Am i no longer able to sort playlists by things like date added anymore?

Hi there!

I'm not sure about the search bar. I don't use Spotify Mobile, nor do I have an iOS device.

In March, Spotify replaced the heart icon with a plus in the Now Playing view in the Spotify mobile app. This change will come to other devices at a later time. This change also includes the icon showing if you've liked a track next to the title. According to the FAQ section in the post linked below, this feature is planned to be reimplemented.

So the search bar in my liked songs won’t appear but it appears in the rest of my playlist. Even after uninstalling and reinstalling the app the problem still occurs.

Hi folks!

Interesting. Could you check if this affects only your Liked Songs or all of your playlists in general? Make sure also that Enhance / Smart Shuffle are toggled off, as it's possible that they were toggled on accidentally, which prevents access to the Sort and Filter options. 

Enhance is currently toggled on, thus no access to the Sort and Filter options.

In case both features have been disabled, yet the issue persists, it's worth logging in on another mobile device (a friend's or a relative's would do) and checking if the same behavior would occur there. If it still does, please share the following so we can investigate further:

• Your device's make, model and OS version.
• The version of Spotify you're running.
• A short screen recording which captures this in action.

the option to search for certain songs within the liked songs playlist is missing and i have to manually add songs to my liked songs playlist instead of them simply being added by pressing the heart or plus sign

Make sure that Smart Shuffle mode is disabled, and then you should be able to search inside Liked Songs or other playlists again (press the shuffle button until it's off)

Whenever I click on likes songs it’s as if the search bar is completely gone. I can’t search artists or song titles in the playlist anymore

You guys have taken away the search bar on the liked songs library. You kept the search on the library but I never use it because it’s easier to search from the liked songs. I can’t find a liked song by using the search bar in the library. Also, you took away the genres that was underneath the search bar on liked songs. I liked those features.

I found the issue. Go on your app then your like songs playlist. turn off the shuffle mode and it bring the search bar back up. Theres this new shuffle enhanced version that blocks the search bar.

Removing user control to promote an AI-driven feature was….questionable at best. 

As a user I was enraged for days. The product and design teams can and should do better. 

Green-lighting AI features that change critical user pathways without complete user testing to impress shareholders makes me question if Spotify even listens to its users.

The irony isn’t missing on me.
