Will 'Weekly' refreshing playlists refresh and download using cellular data?

Solved!

Will 'Weekly' refreshing playlists refresh and download using cellular data?

I have a few of the Fresh Finds playlists and the Discover Weekly playlist set to be available offline.

If the 'Download Using Cellular' option is enabled (in the Streaming Quality menu), will these playlist automatically refresh and download the new content to my phone, when it becomes available?  My hope is that it doesn't.

I want the Download Using Cellular option enabled, so I can download a song here and there while using cellular data. But, I most certainly do not want Spotify to refresh the playlists and automatically download over 100 songs using cellular data.

Ideally, I want the weekly playlists to be available offline, but only refresh while using WiFi.

I’d love to try and see what happens . . . but don’t want to waste my precious cellular data in the case that it does refresh.

Thanks.

Hey adrianmarsi, welcome to the Spotify Community!

I hope you're doing well

I just tested it on my iPhone and what I saw was:

You can only download a song without wifi if the "Download Using Cellular" option is enabled. When you try to download using your cellular data, but the "Download Using Cellular" is not enabled, you're gonna see "Waiting for WiFi..." written right below "Downloading".

However, if you go to Settings - Streaming Quality - Download Using Cellular you will find written on the bottom of the page: "Please keep Spotify open and your screen unlocked. Downloads will pause if your device is idle for more than two minutes." So Spotify probably won't download the entire playlist by itself. Unless you keep using Spotify for 10 minutes in a row.

Maybe, the solution for your issue is turn the "Download Using Cellular" option on when you decide to download a specific song. Then, right after that you turn it off again.

I hope I helped you.

If this helps, could you please mark it as the solution?

I'd appreciate that! Thank You!
