My Question or Issue

I have recently bought a wireless carplay dongle for my Mercedes car. At first my phone would connect straight away and play spotify. Now when I get in my car and try to play a song on spotify (through the car play settings in my car), it will start playing on my phone and not in the car. Is there anyway to fix this so it plays through bluetooth car play on the car instead of the phone. Sometimes when i go in my phone to try and switch to play through car play this still doesn't work. Any help?

Hey @ryanpatel98,

Thanks for reaching out on the Community.

Have you tried any troubleshooting so far so that we don't make you repeat any steps?

Best first thing to try is to Unpair and Re-pair the Bluetooth connection with the dongle.

Then you should make sure that CarPlay is enabled while your device is locked so that Spotify will be able to connect. You can follow these steps:

  1. Open the "Settings" app on your iPhone's home screen.
  2. Scroll down and tap on "General."
  3. Tap on "CarPlay" from the list of options.
  4. Under the "MY CARS" section, select the name of your car's infotainment system.
  5. Find the option labeled "Allow CarPlay While Locked" and ensure that it is toggled on (green).
  6. After making this adjustment, restart your iPhone to apply the changes effectively.

If that doesn't solve it for you let us know if Spotify is able to connect with a cable to your car and you only have this issue with playing sound from Spotify.
