artwork keeps changing size

I'm probably being an idiot but would be grateful for advice.  On my ipad if i have the playlist open but want to expand that individual track I click the upward facing arrow at the bottom of the screen on the grey strip.  the artwork then pops up with the name below it but sometimes the screen loads so big that the playback position control/devices etc at the bottom is off the page of the ipad and I can't access it, so I can't scroll futher into the song.  Then other times the page seems to load normal size.  It's weird.  how do I get the page to be always normal size!
