My Question or Issue

Hi there, I'd like to report a bug I can't manage to get rid of. This issue is affecting the "auto-generated playlist" that appears on an artist page when you like one of his song, "Liked songs".

Before you ask, yes I did delete and reinstall the app, login, logout, nothing seems to work.

To make it short : unliking a song doesn't remove it from the playlist, wether it be by swiping right or even tap the three dots and then "Unlike". I so happen to have some "Liked song playlist" with songs that are literally not liked.

It seems that this is very much the case with songs I liked before the feature of "Liked songs" on artist page was implemented, this bug is indeed occurring all the time with my favorite, long listened-to artists, but not with new one I just discovered.

For example, this bug with an artist with 0 like on any of his songs and therefore, no playlist is non-existent for me. I can successfully like a song, it will be added to the playlist, unlike it and it will be removed by any means. But, even in this case when it works, I also notice visual bugs and glitches when trying to unlike a song by switching right, like the swipe seems to "block" at a certain point.

I'd be happy to provide some screen recordings I've done where the issue is very obvious and you can see to how extent it is indeed a bug, but I can't upload it here since maximum size is 5MB.

Thanks for looking into this issue !

Hey @20sceal,

Thanks for searching for the answer you need here.

Good job on checking first whether or not a reinstall solves the issue, in most such cases it does. However, could give it another go with these steps and run a clean reinstall? These ones are more thorough. That way you can make sure the cache is not causing this issue.

If that doesn't fix things, could you let us know if the issue comes up when you log in to the app on another device or in to the web player? If the recordings are to large, we'd also appreciate a few screenshots of your liked songs playlist. Just make sure to hide any private/ sensitive info.

It would help us out a lot in getting to the bottom of this if you share the URI's of a couple of these songs you can't remove.

We'd love to investigate this further! We'll be here if you have any other questions.

Hi Mihail,

Following up on your answer, I'm still having the same issue. I tried it on several devices, especially on desktop whose behavior I recorded. Didn't try on the web player since the Artists' Liked songs playlist is not showing up.

You'll find here on Youtube a first recording showing the issue, playlist is not updating : liking/disliking the songs doesn't change anything. But, new songs are working properly as you can see here, I think the issue is related to an old behavior in Spotify.

I'm a long-time user, and I think I remember that before when you "Saved" an album, is automatically saved every songs. This is why my "Liked songs" playlist is overcrowded of every songs in one album. So, all of those songs that have been "Saved", are now "Liked" and are in the Artists Liked Songs playlist, but cannot be removed.

I'm sharing the URIs of some songs if that can be of any help:

Songs that cannot be removed:

- spotify:track:26GWMiaWlPAtmu0otrSfSj

- spotify:track:7fZQFBBemxcu9cPx1pqsMc

- spotify:track:2pNqS8emdzZHiYJkBnU4Jv

Songs that can be removed:

- spotify:track:2ewjMyCbNv2X1dB2qIDCwD

- spotify:track:0fukO3WYYUHaXOrvEohpEG

- spotify:track:2DOc7EJutpU8OrBHV6RABG

To wrap up why this issue is annoying: some of the playlist "Liked songs" of artists I've been listening to for a while are not updating and thus, not working properly. I'm finding myself with playlist of 51 liked songs but there is not a single song that is liked, (see attached screenshot).

Thanks a lot for helping me!

Hi @20sceal,

Thank you for your reply and sharing all that info with us.

After checking the video and the links, there are some things we'd like to review:

  • The first one, is that "deleting" the tracks from Lithopédion or QALF directly from the Liked songs inside the artist's page won't remove them because the whole albums were Liked ♥, not every song individually. In the case of the content shown on the video, we suggest you open the albums and remove your "Like ♥" from them. That should remove all the tracks from the list.
  • Another thing we noticed is that the album Lithopédion has two different releases. If you open the album from the desktop app, scroll to the bottom and click on this tab to switch between the two releases. Please make sure you're removing your Like ♥ from the correct one:

In conclusion, in the case of the songs you Like ♥ individually, you should be able to remove them directly from the "Liked songs" from the artist's page. In contrast, when you Like ♥ a whole album, you need to unlike it from the album itself.

Hope this clears things up! Let us know if you have any more questions.

Hi MafeG,

Thanks a lot! I didn't realize that liking a full album will put the songs in "Liked songs" even though they're not individually liked. Your answer was crystal clear, thanks again.

Have a good day,
