when i search for a specific song on a playlist, i already know where to tap and can do it very fast. Playlist > scroll up > search. The problem is the responsiveness in these actions. when i tap the search bar… nothing happens. So i tap again- but wait! my first tap triggered the search and keyboard to show up so now i tapped the first song in the playlist and ruined my listening experience. Ways to fix: 1) fix the delay 2) don’t show songs if there’s no search query 3) have an animation that shows me my first tap triggered *something* 4)other creative ideas
Hey there @killos53,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Community 🙂
Would you mind letting us know the model of your device, along with the exact iOS version and the Spotify version you're currently running?
We'd also recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app. This is often an overlooked step, but it can be helpful to get rid of any cache that might be causing issues.
Keep us posted!
No change, still have a noticeable delay. Link: https://youtube.com/shorts/lGfwSLGN0SQ?feature=share
I know it’s pretty much impossible to see the taps, but i don’t actually click on the song when it starts playing, i clicked on the search bar twice
Hi @killos53,
Thank you for your reply and sending over that video.
We tested this on our side and found no delay when we used the search bar.
Let us know if you followed the specific reinstall steps shared by @Novvy, and please don't forget to share with us the info she requested, this will help us investigate further.
If the reinstall doesn't work, please make sure there aren't any battery optimization or power saving apps running for Spotify. Does that make a difference?
Let us know how this goes.
iOS 14.6
iphone Xr
Spotify 8.6.60.1313
even if i had a battery saver running, that’s no reason that an item i don’t see should be clickable
Hey @killos53,
Thanks for getting back to us.
If possible, could you try logging in to your account using a different mobile device to see if you notice the same behavior?
Let us know how it goes.
Same thing on an iPhone 6
Hi @killos53,
Thank you for your reply.
Since this is happening across different devices, can you log in with another account, such as a friend's or a family member's to see if the issue persists? Alternatively, you can create a free account here, just make sure you're logged out of your own account before creating a new one.
Until then.
Tried with a new account. It’s definitely a bit faster, but the song is still clickable before it appears
Hi @killos53,
Thank you for keeping us in the loop and running all these tests!
Since the issue is somewhat still present with another account, please let us know if the issue persists if you've activated the Offline Mode, or if it only happens when you're connected to an internet network.
Keep us posted.
No discernable differences in offline
Hey @killos53,
Thanks for the post.
Depending on how big your Library is, some app functionalities and menus would load slower. This is why the search is loading somewhat faster on a new empty account.
App performance depends on your device in combination with the supported refresh rate as well.
Currently there is no way to boost the performance of the app. We've passed this info on to the right teams at Spotify. We can't say for sure if the app will be made more responsive on iOS in future updates, but it's always a good idea to keep automatic updates On to not miss any new development.
Don't hesitate to reach out again if you have questions.
