iOS - Version 0.9.1.230 missing 30-sec preview

Solved!

iOS - Version 0.9.1.230 missing 30-sec preview

I just updated the Spotify app on my iPhone 4S today to the latest release. Upon doing so, it looks like the functionality to get a preview of a song is no longer included. In the previous version I had (sorry, not sure which version it was), I could search for a song, then tap the song and it would give me a 30-second preview of the song. Now, with the newest version, I go to a particular song, touch it on the screen, and nothing happens. When trying to replicate this on my iPad, it actually allows me to stream the full song, not just a preview.

This preview feature was one of the things I really loved about Spotify. Was it removed, or is it still supposed to work? If it is, should I try an uninstall/reinstall of the app?

Thanks.

Spotify features aren't often tied to version number, and they are known to carry out sneaky beta testing without announcing it. Wondering did you have a feature for "testing" that was never available publically.

Hey, welcome to the Community!

That 30-second preview thing is currently available on Discover only. If you head into Discover, you should still see the preview icon on the artwork shown for each story. Is that working okay for you?

But in the previous version, the preview function was available on all songs. Why was it removed? It was one of my favorite features, because it allowed you to sample a song before adding it to a playlist.

I don't remember ever seeing this apart from on Discover in Spotify - maybe I missed it?

I wish I knew what version it was; that would make this easier. I just know that, before I upgraded to the newest version, I was able to get a preview of any song on Spotify by clicking on it. I really like live versions of songs, and this preview feature was extremely useful. It allowed me to check the quality of the live version before adding it to a playlist.

I just checked on iTunes to see which version I had last synced, and it was 0.7 something. The problem is that version didnt offer the preview functionality, either. I must have updated the app multiple times without syncing. So, the version that allowed the previewing was between 0.7 and the current version.

Thanks for the info, Peter; I must have. It was a great feature, and one I really hope they release. For now, I'm having to just switch back and forth between iTunes and Spotify when sampling songs.
