My Question or Issue

Spotify iOS app (8.8.44) crashes when playing on background. In the error log which I can see, it seems the app consumes CPU a lot in background and app process is killed by OS. I pasted a part of crash log below. I tried OS restart a couple of times but didn't help.

Event: cpu usage
Action taken: Process killed
CPU: 48 seconds cpu time over 52 seconds (93% cpu average), exceeding limit of 80% cpu over 60 seconds

Hey there @abetar0,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

In this case, we recommend you start off with a clean reinstall of the Spotify app on your device. By doing that, the app can be up-to-date, and you can make sure the cache is not leading to this inconvenience. You can see the steps for a clean reinstall here.

If the above doesn't do the trick, we'd like to gather some additional info. Would you mind sending us the make/model and OS of the affected device, along with the Spotify version you're running there?

Lastly, did you notice if this started to happen after a specific event, such as an OS update? If yes, please send us the details.

Keep us in the loop!

Same issue here. Running latest version of iOS and spotify. iOS kills the spotify process because its using too much CPU time. Can you please remove the crypto miner or whatever the **bleep** you run on my device. There is no reason a music player should use that much CPU resources on a latest generation iPhone.
