My Question or Issue

I listen to Spotify on my iPad which is connected to a Magic Keyboard. I specifically remember being able to pause songs with spacebar and skip songs with CMD + left arrow (and go back with CMD + right arrow), but this is no longer the case. I think this change happened with an update sometime in the last few (I’d say max. 3) months. Can this feature be re-enabled?

Hey there @r-h-7,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We could replicate this behavior on our side. In order for us to continue investigating it, we'd like to gather some additional info. Please send us:

  • The exact Spotify version you're running on your iPad.
  • Do you notice any difference if you perform a clean reinstall of the app? If not sure, you can follow these steps to try it (you can follow those for iPhone).

As soon as you give us this info, we'll pass it to our tech team for them to investigate further.

Keep us in the loop!

Hello @AlejaR,

The Spotify version on my iPad is 8.9.66.462. I have just tried doing a clean reinstall, however the shortcuts still don’t work. I tried using spacebar and arrows on other apps (primarily YouTube) and they work fine, so I don’t believe it’s any sort of fault with my keyboard.

Any other suggestion is much appreciated!

Hello again @AlejaR,

Status update regarding this problem: I have just updated Spotify to version 8.9.68.490 and the problem still persists.

Hello again,

Problem still persists in Spotify version 8.9.74.535.

I have the same issue with the same version 8.9.74.535. Super annoying problem. Will this be fixed?

Also not working on version 8.9.76.516

Just replying so I can get updated on this issue. My Spotify version is 8.9.76.516 and running on iPad Air 4th Gen. Please can this be fixed asap as it’s such an essential qualify of life feature for us iPad with Magic Keyboard users.

It works now! Updating to the current newest version 8.9.78.544 solved the issue for me.

Hey folks,

Thanks for all your replies!

@r-h-7, thanks for keeping us in the loop. We're glad to know that this is working as expected.

Folks, make sure you're running the latest version available on your App Store and let us know if this continues to happen. If yes, send us the make/model and OS of the affected device along with the Spotify version you're running there.

We'll be on the lookout!
