iPhone X Extremely Slow Downloads

Solved!

iPhone X Extremely Slow Downloads

Upgraded to an iPhone X and it's impossible to get my offline files sync'd. Started out and downloaded 1 song every three or four minutes so I removed the spotify app and removed all of my devices from the offline list in my account then reinstalled. The download then started to go pretty decent and downloaded 575 songs pretty quick but then stalled out. Now no matter what I try the speed won't improve.

My download speed tests at over 300mbps on wifi so that's not the issue. I've changed wifi networks, I've changed my DNS servers and tried my proxy setiings on auto. I've enabled download over cellular and disabled Wifi with no change. This is pretty frustrating.

Hey! Help arrived. Could you tell me more details about this issue (app version/ iOS version / model number/ Using Cellular Data or WiFi, etc)?

If possible, I’d recommend using USB to connect your MacBook/iMac (make sure enabled Network Sharing via USB) which connected to (Gigabit) Ethernet directly. For me, this solution works and download all the songs instantly.

Updated to latest version of iOS and Spotify app.

Same issue here ...ive tried almost everything...

I've wiped my phone back to factory and tried it again with no luck. Right now I'm trying out Apple Music. If spotify can't get it together I'll have to make the switch. 90% of my use is in the car and I need my tracks offline, unlimited data plans aren't a thing in Canada.

yeah same to me.... i notice many user have the same isue i have android ... and the same thing...

Same here, looks like a bug that we will need to wait out a fix for.

I cant even sync the songs, it wont work i've tried everything

It's worked for me over time, I didn't re-install or sign out or anything, just eventually worked one day. Hopefully Spotify pick the issue up!

This is insane. First they magically let my downloaded songs disapper and now the download velocity is about 1 song per 4 hours!!!! Of course there is no person able to help other than the community who all have the same problem. I have no choice but to cancel my subscription with this band of amateurs.

This worked for me, but I don’t know why. I’m also using iphoneX and seems it’s a problem with proxy using WiFi:

Spotify so incredibly slow on iPhone x.  Like unusablely slow.

If it's a bug then its been the same one for 3 years. I dropped Spotify 3 years ago because of this very problem and went to Apple Music which is good. I only tried switching back because of a home speaker that streams Spotify through WIFI and now having this same stupid issue as before. I'm cancelling and trying another service.

As you I've tried every single tip on the web. At the end of the day the only thing that "works" for me is keeping the app open, no switching apps, nor using my phone for any other task. This is lame!

I actually managed to make it work, and I'm currently downloading hundreds of songs. For me it worked fine in the beginning, but towards the end I just got stuck on one song which it couldn't download. Put it away for almost an hour but still no progress. I tried turing my wifi connection on and off and suddenly it worked and downloaded the song. Unfortunately it happened to the next 60 songs that were left too. Very grindy, but it worked. Luckily I didn't have to do this with the entire playlist of almost 700 songs. I still have space left on my phone, the problem seems to be something else. I'm using a Nokia 3.

Same here. After upgrading to Iphone X at first, it didn't download at all. Nothing. Then I deleted the app and started all over. It started downloading but at a really slow rate, as you all mention, 7 to 10 minutes per song. An one playlist at a time. In a more than 1000 songs library... you do the math. It's UNACCEPTABLE, I'm paying for the service to be able to download, if can't do it then what's the point???

After reinstallation, is still downloading at an unacceptable slow rate. It only downloaded 20 songs in 24hs.

I'm using:

- Spotify 8.4.43.908

- IOS 11.2.6 (15D100)

- Iphone x (MQA92LL/A)

- WIFI 24Mb

I would really appreciate a solution. I thank you for the USB suggestion to solve the problem now but, that's not the point. As I'm paying PREMIUM service, I would like to be able to use the app as it should be, downloading in everyway possible.

I've been having this same issue on an iPhone 6.  Have tried reinstalling the app multiple times, resetting the phone, etc.

Started my free trial of Apple Music last night and (amazingly) downloaded a few hundred songs in about 10 minutes.

Hello @AndieChini,
Could you try another network connection?
The network stability (between Spotify Server) is one of the major factors affecting download speed.

Hi @chakming, thanks for your good intentions. I don't know what it was, but it's fixed today. Just opened Spotify again and its working beautifully (75 songs in a few minutes and counting). On the same connection, and everything else.

Although, it's still downloading one playlist at a time. But at this rate, is not a huge deal.

Thanks again! Will let you know if a have problems again

I have had none problems with downloading songs in fact it has started to download faster on my Iphone X:)
