My Question or Issue

Spotify app randomly stops responding at the end of songs. It will not play the next song automatically, respond to the song forward, back or play buttons and requires closing and restarting to fix. This is true both for the lock screen and then going into the app itself. It would appear to be becoming more frequent

Thanks for posting in the Community.

 

Could you check if the background app refresh is turned on for the Spotify app on your iOS device? Here is how to do it.

 

Also perform a clean reinstall of the app as described here.

 

Let us know how that went.

Thank you for your informative message

I have hit a problem with your suggestion of reinstalling the Spotify app. There is no gear icon in the top right corner in the app after hitting the home button located bottom left

It sounds like you’re seeing one of a few changes we’ve made to Spotify recently. You can find the Setting menu under your profile picture on the left. Swipe left or tap your profile picture and you'll see it 🙂 

On another note, it looks like you're having the currently live ongoing issue that is under investigation right now. We'd recommend hitting the "Thumbs up" button and subscribe to that thread to be aware of any updates posted there.


We currently don't have an estimated time for a fix, but we hope it will be as soon as possible. 


We'd also recommend you to have your Spotify app updated, so you don't miss any improvements coming your way.
