iPhone possessed

Solved!

iPhone possessed

I recently bought a subscription to Spotify and I have been playing it on my iPhone but I have been having lots of trouble. Siri would randomly pop up all of the time while I was playing music. I turned Siri off but now it is voice control that pops up. I am not touching anything on my phone when this happens and as soon as I close voice control it pops up again. My music also randomly pauses or starts playing when I pause it. There have also been a few instances when I completely close the app in the background and it will start playing. Also when I am listening to music it will skip forward 10 to 20 seconds randomly through a song or even skip songs entirely or play previous songs. The only way I can stop this madness is by unplugging my earphones.
I have the latest version of the app (5.7.0.1055) and an iPhone 6s with the latest update (IOS 9.3.2). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, changing playback settings, and restarting my phone but none of those things have fixed it.

Hi Lionface,

This sounds like a issue with the headphones rather than Spotify.

I don't know what model you're using, but some headphones and earphones have feedback controls which can contain a microphone, playback controls and volume controls. If there is an issue with the circuit controlling these it will send incorrect signals to the phone and could cause it to do everything you mentioned below. It is important to note, that this could be the case even if your headphones don't support feedback controls.

It could also be a problem with your headphone socket in your iPhone. If parts of the socket are worn or there's a piece of matierial in there it could be causing the same issues.

I recomend trying a different set of headphones, and failing that, taking it into Apple to take a look.

I hope this helps!

If this is a good comment, please give it kudos. If it solves your issue, please accept it as the solution.

Check out my playlists for some new music - follow so I can check your music out too.

Couldn't have said it any better than @dylan_grey. It sounds just like a headphones problem. Just follow everything he said.

Cheers,

Matt

I tried different earphones and it was still having the same issues so I will take it to the Apple Store as soon as possible. Thank you for your help!

Dear all,

I have exactly the same issue that described, while using original apple earphones. I think there is an issue with voice control. Can you please help us on this?

Thank you

julia
