My Question or Issue

Ever since I switched back to iPhone I've noticed that when I connect to my Ford F150 bluetooth, whatever I was last playing switches shuffle. I will then turn off shuffle and music will play in the playlist order. I'll get where I'm going, turn off my truck; shop/do whatever where I'm at, get back in the truck and start it up and the last song starts playing again but then shuffle turns back on and it goes back into shuffle mode.

I've literally watched the shuffel icon not be green, playback starts up and I watch shuffle turns itself back on.  Super annoying when I'm trying to listen to a playlist or album in order. Any clue why this constantly keeps turning shuffle back? Had the same truck with an Android phone back up until October 2021 and it never happened. iOS it has been happening ever since. Never submitted to the comunity thinking it would maybe/eventually get fixed.. but closing in on a year and still the same thing 😞

Here is a video where you can see me in the truck with spotify playing and truck is off. I start the truck, bluetooth connections and it switches to shuffle. Why would it change the currenty way I'm playing music from in order to shuffle? Makes zero sense!!

Hey @jbob_303,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.

Sometimes, this kind of issue is related to some damaged cache stored on your phone. First, we'd recommend performing a clean reinstall of the app on your iPhone by following the steps in this article. This is often an overlooked step, but it's more thorough than a quick one and can be helpful in getting rid of any cache that might be causing trouble with the Bluetooth connection and the Shuffle button.

If the issue persists, would you mind checking if it happens when connecting your iPhone via Bluetooth to another device such as a speaker? This will give us a better look at the issue.

Lastly, to keep investigating the case, include in your next response the Spotify version you're currently running.

We'll be on the lookout.

Hi OscarDC, uninstalled and reinstalled per the link provided and same issues when connecting via bluetooth to my vehicle. I also tried a different bluetooth device (Sony XB33) and the issue did not occur. The Spotify version I just reinstalled shows that it is version 8.7.62

Hey @jbob_303,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

To continue investigating your case, could you check if this same issue happens when connecting your iPhone to your truck, but using an AUX or USB connection?

Also, since the previous Android was not showing this behavior, it would be great if you could test this by connecting a different phone to your truck with your same account, to see if it makes any difference.

Lastly, to make sure it's not device-related (and if possible), would you mind testing this by connecting your iPhone to a friend's or family member's car to see if the shuffle button activates by itself too?

We'll be waiting for your response.

Hi @OscarDC - i started playback from the iphone 13 pro, made sure shuffle was not on. Plugged in the aux cord to the USB port in my truck and audio was still playing (not on shuffle) as soon as I started up the truck and the audio switched from phone to device (via USB) it went back to shuffeling. I don't have the android phone any more, but tried it with an android tablet i had laying around and when connecting to the truck via bluetooth it did not jump over to shuffle. I also tried my ipad and same thing, started playback (ensured shuffle off) connected to truck via bluetooth and it stayed on in-order and did not go to shufle. I'll have see if i can find soembody with bluetooth audio in their vehicle that I can hook up to to test what my vehicle does in another car.

Live, love, laugh and listen to music 🙂

Hi Jeremy, actually just tried yesterday evening in a friends Dodge Durango and the shuffle turning on did no occur. Seems to be pretty specific to my phone/truck combination?

Hey @jbob_303,

Thank you for keeping in contact and for the info shared.

Since this is not happening on your friend's car, the behavior seems to be related to how your truck interacts with the media device. Due to it being isolated to that particular setup, we're not pretty sure about what could be causing it since there's no other similar reports and we couldn't replicate it either. Apart from the troubleshooting we've already suggested, there's not much that we as Spotify moderators can do.

We appreciate your understanding and the time you took following the troubleshooting process and sharing all the info you found.

If anything else comes up, we're just a post away.
