My husband was the family plan coordinator for our Spotify account, but he died in September. How do I change it to me being the main person?

My Question or Issue

I have received a notification that payment has not been made and know this is because I’ve closed my late husband’s bank accounts. I wasn’t aware until now which account Spotify came out of. I want to take over this account, but don’t know how to do this. Can anyone help me please?

Hey @Pootle78,

I'm so sorry for your loss. I understand this situation must be difficult, and I’ll do my best to guide you through the steps you can take.

If your husband’s bank accounts have been closed, the payments for the Premium Family plan will soon fail, and all accounts within the plan will automatically revert to the Free version. Once that happens, you can start a new subscription on your own account if you wish.

If you'd prefer not to wait, you can reach out to Spotify’s Customer Support team. They can help cancel the current subscription immediately, close the account if needed, and even transfer music and playlists to another account if you'd like to keep them.

Please note that for account closure or transferring music, they may request some documentation, such as a death certificate or other proof showing you’re authorized to manage your husband’s account.

If you have any other questions or concerns, let me know—I’m here to help. 🙂
