Cannot use staionary streaming device abroad

Cannot use staionary streaming device abroad

Hi, I cannot use any stationary streaming devices with my premium account when I am in a foreign country (e.g. Yamaha WXC-50 or CocktailAudio). Why is that so? According to Spotify I may use my premium acoount anywhere and with any device (one at a time). Seems to be not true..

Hey Giffen,

First, I would contact customer support here

They would know best how to help you! In my opinion, I think you should restart your device (smartphone) power cycle your streaming device (turn off for 30sec, then turn back on) and ensure that the country you are in is included on this list here: https://support.spotify.com/us/using_spotify/getting_started/full-list-of-territories-where-spotify-...

Best,

Michael

Hi Michael, Thanks for your input. I already tried/checked the things you
mentioned. Without success.
With today's app update also no progress.
Whenever I am in another country, just like now in Austria, I cannot access
any stationary streaming devices there. For example, if there is a Yamaha
WXC-50 or CocktailAudio X12 to be guest-used in a hotel room... cannot
stream Spotify. Other services like Qobuz or ordinary I-radio can. With my
mobile phone there is also no problem streaming Spotify.
I really think that Spotify does not allow us to use any "foreign"
stationary streaming devices, not even with a premium account.
Which is not okay if you ask me - according to their terms of use.
I will address support then...

Hey there @Giffen!

Thanks for reaching out on the Community!

We'd love to help you further, we'll just need a bit more info.

Can you let us know if you're not able to see the speakers in the Connect window at all or ig you have trouble connecting?

We'll also need to know what device you're using to connect and its Android and Spotify versions.

We'll be on the lookout for your update!

Hi Elena, Yes I can see it in the list of availabe devices in the Connect
window but it is shown greyed out (cannot be selected).

The device is a Yamaha WXC-50 or a CocktailAudio X12. Both are typical HiFi
devices for network streaming and can normally be connected to from the
Spotify app at my mobile phone (Samsung S9+ with Android10 and Spotify
app, all latest version).

Hey there @Giffen,

Thanks for your reply!

If you can see the speakers in the Connect window, although grayed-out you should be able to play from them. There might be an issue with the phone connecting to the devices.

Could you try to perform a clean reinstall of the app by following the steps in this support article. Also make sure you restart your phone after the reinstall is complete.

Other things to be aware of - both the phone and the speaker need to be on the same network.

Apart from that make sure that any batter optimization apps or settings are disabled, as they may prevent the phone from streaming to other devices:

1. Mobile Settings> Apps> Spotify> Permissions. Allow everything you see there.

2. Mobile settings> Apps> Spotify> Battery> Optimize battery usage> select All (not optimized for apps)> Spotify> disable.

Note: Menu order may differ on different devices.

Keep us in the loop.

Have a great day!
