Changing profile name

Hello.

I was wondering if there's any chance to change your profile name? I am aware that you can not change the username, but that's not the case.

I recently linked Facebook with my Spotify account, and upon disconnecting from Facebook (via Preferences), my real name is still there. I would like to get my username shown there, not my real name.

Hi, and welcome to the community!

It should revert to your Spotify username. Have you tried reinstalling Spotify and seeing if it refreshes your username?

Try deleting Spotify from your list of facebook apps to make sure it's disconnected. Also, try re signing in again with your Spotify username and password rather than fb details.

What is your Spotify username? I'll take a look and see whether I see a real name or username. EDIT: Is your username the same as your community name? If it is, your real name is still displayed there. Try submitting a contact form and hopefully someone at Spotify can update the name for you.

Thank you for the quick response. I shall try it out later on, I'm still kind of inbetween whether I want to keep my account linked with my FB or not.

I am actually having the same issue. Having my account linked to Facebook is great to connect with people on that network; however I also use a vast array of other social media platforms and DO NOT want to share my full name.

Will there be an option to edit your visible user name, but keep your full name on the back end? Would love to share playlists and songs, but don't due to privacy concerns.

@KarinMarie - The idea of being able to hide your real name was previously suggested over on the Ideas Exchange here but has been marked as inactive due to lack of support from Spotify users. You may wish to repost the idea and see if you can get more support.

I've tried solution above, even uninstalled and installed Spotify app again, but it still shows my Facebook name in both desktop and mobile apps ... That worked before, few versions ago, but doesn't seem to work after latest updates (I have v.0.9.10.22 desktop app).

I wonder now if Spotify intentionally keeps FB info even after disconnection, or it's a bug somewhere. It would be unfortunate to be having to close my account and re-open new one to solve this problem ... There should be a better way to fix this.

@MT_Spot There's always been an issue with the profile you see not updating immediately even though other users saw the change straight away. I guess the profile is cached somewhere and takes a while to update locally. Are other still seeing your facebook profile? If you post your spotify username, I'll have a look and report back.

i have the same problem. i loged in to the wrong FB account and diconnected it again. but now im stuck with a spotify account with the wrong name. Plz fix this spotify
