Error 412 on laptop and error 408 on iPhone

Error 412 on laptop and error 408 on iPhone

Hi,

 

My spotify account was registered in the UK and ever since i moved to Singapore I haven't been able to use it. Now that spotify has launched in Singapore, I edited my profile and changed my country and trying to login using my account details.

 

Initially it did login and showed me to be in offline mode and error 412. On reading a couple of threads it indicated that it may be due to McAfee and I uninstalled McAfee.

 

However, am still having the error 412 on my laptop indicating some firewall and proxy settings as well as error 408 on my iphone.

 

Would appreciate help to sort this. Am completely clueless!

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂 

 

Error 408 is the wrong country error message, are you sure you updated your country on your online profile correctly and you are not connecting via a VPN or proxy which might confuse the system? 

 

Also, for usage on an iPhone, you need a Premium subscription, on which you should never get the Error 408, do you have an active premium subscription?

Thanks for your reply. I did check and I can confirm to you that my country has been changed in my online profile.

 

Unfortunately I do not have a premium subscription as on date.

 

Am not too sure if am logging in using a VPN or proxy setting. Can you let me know how I could check that?

Hey Sarah, let's get this sorted.

 

Error 412 usually means your login details haven't been accepted (but because there's something weird on our end). We haven't had any serious outages that should be causing this. Have you tried fully reinstalling Spotify and so on?

 

Also, though your account is set to Singapore it's still showing as the connection coming from abroad for us. If you go to http://whatismyipaddress.com/ what country does it show you as connecting from?

I did reinstall Spotify.

 

Thanks for the link. I did check this before by following so previous member posts. And did it right away too.

 

It does show the country and city to be Singapore and I can see the details of my service provider too.

 

Any suggestions?
