Family Account Age Restrictions

Family Account Age Restrictions

As a father to a 12 year old, the US online age restriction is beyond annoying, but what I don't understand is how I add my son to the Apple Music Family plan, but can't do it on Spotify.

If I'm the one setting his account up as part of the family, why can't he have an account without lying or essentially stealing if I sign in on his phone?

Hey @stinsora, welcome to the Spotify Community!

About the age restriction, we'll make sure to pass your feedback to the right team. On the other hand, you can find the exact steps to invite a member to your Premium for Family here.

Let us know how it goes and if you have any other questions.

This Family account age restriction should be *much* more visible BEFORE starting the setup of a family account. Last year I created a family account but discovered the age restriction during the process to add my kids. Then I had to backtrack which even involved dropping my original premium account back to a free account for a few days and then back to premium once Spotify sorted itself.

The other question is *why*? I would have been the person paying not my kids, why is the age restriction there?

The solution in my case is Apple Music that allows family sharing from (6 or was it 7 years of age?) which includes Apple Music.

This really bizar: such a bad service to first let me sign up for my family of four, and then locking my kids out due to their age (7 and 10). I mean: if I as their father am fine with that, why would Spotify think otherwise? I really can't see why I would even bother to use Spotify at all. I'd better check Apple Music out, like one of the respondents said.
