I thought spotify was private, I have 2 subscribers to on of my playlists and want them gone. I found out how to subcribe to them (to which I'm not interested in they're music) but not how to block or delete them.
Solved! Go to Solution.
Just recreate playlists and do not publish those at all.
Hey,
To stop people from subscribing to your playlists, just make sure they're not published. To do this, go to your profile (click your name in the top right, then Profile). Then select the Edit button to change things as so:
There isn't really a way to remove subscribers from a playlist at present though. For a workaround I'd suggest remaking the playlist with the same name and tracks, then making sure it's set as unpublished in your Profile.
Thanks, couldn't for the life of me find how to switch it off. it's done now and hopefully spotify will give paying customers the right to decline as well as accept random people accessing my playlists.
The workaround presented above does not work if someone is already subscribing to your "starred" tracks - as there is no way of removing this playlist. In other words: How can I stop somone from accessing my starred tracks?
Hi litto- You can definitely make sure your Starred playlist isn't published by following the steps Richard outlined above.
If someone is already subscribing to your Starred list, your best option is to copy the tracks into a new, private playlist.
All you need to do is open your Starred playlist and higlight all the tracks. From there, use your keyboard shortcuts to copy and paste them into the new playlist.
Meredith - This is not a solution as the damage has already been done - someone I don´t want to share my music with is already subscribing to my "Starred Tracks" list. But the "Starred Tracks" feature is not a playlist like any other! It can therefore not be treated as such. It can neither be replaced by another playlist. "Starred Tracks" is a unique list and its subscribers can not be blocked. Meredith, your way of solving this problem means I am unable to utilize the "starred tracks" feature forever. My only conclusion is that the Spotify software needs an additional upgrade to tackle this problem.
Sincerely
Litto- Stockholm, Sweden.
I'm happy-ish with the method above but I also think that the privacy and subscription settings should be amended. ie like on the social networks, if someone adds you as a friend or follows you, they send a request and you can choose yes or no. Spotify as it is gives no option for this and as a paying customer, I would greatly like to keep out random strangers all together.
It is kind of annoying, I too have been experiencing this, though i had ticked do not publish in my preferences, and yet they were still published. i was unaware of the need to also set privacy in my profile. Your tie up with Facebook has made your privacy options like Facebook. There should be a one stop location for privacy. I have subscribed to Spotify from the begining but your new approach to privacy is putting me off.
Ive done everything that everyone has suggested and I'm still getting subscriptions which is really annoying me. I am really getting annoyed as I also have been with spotify scine the beginning and have been paying for it for years now and to have my playlist open to every man and his dog is simply un-acceptable. I am looking for alternatives to spotify and will opt for the right one that will ensure PRIVATE means Private!
Just recreate playlists and do not publish those at all.
I have just done this so fingers crossed all is private. thanks x
This cannot be the answer, to edit whether they are published or not in the profile view. I have never had any of my playlists published since I signed up with spotify, but I continually get notifications that people are subscribing. I don't want spotify for it's sharing or social networking, I just want music. I have everything blocked, I'm not signed in through facebook, I don't share what I listen to on facebook, my profile isn't public, and my playlists aren't published. How do I actually stop people from seeing this stuff and subscribing?
THIS IS THE MOST FRUSTRATING THING EVER!!!!! I SHOULD BE ABLE TO DELETE A SUBSCRIBER TO MY OWN STARRED PLAYLIST! JOKE!! FIX THIS SPOTIFY!!!!!

I really agree with the statement above. The fact that you can't remove (block) your subscribers is simply frustrating. Can someone from Spotify please look into this?
Hey guys 🙂
This has already been suggested over on the Ideas Exchange here. I would suggest you head over to that topic and add your kudos and comments 😉

I have the same problem. I deleted my old playlist with 2 subscribers on it and I made a new one with the same tracks BUT when I go into the profil of the 2 subscribers from my old list, THEY STILL SUBSCRIBE TO THE OLD DELETED LIST HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? All that effort I made by making a new list with same tracks and make them available offline took FOREVER. I guess the only way is too stop use Spotify. My friends have the same issue and they all consider to stop use this program, Spotify have no privacy at all...
I have the opposite problem. I keep getting notifications of someone I have removed from my following people list, and, more importantly, unsubscribed from their playlists, and yet I still get "............ added 1 track to .......... playlist". I don't want to receive these notifications! How do I stop them?!

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂
Sometimes the system seems to have issues unsubscribing from playlists. Try subscribing to the playlist and then unsubscribing again.

Hi!
I actually made sure in the beginning that NONE of my playlists would be published.
Somehow, someone ( I don't even know!) just subscribed to my playlist. What the heck?
How could this happen? And why can't I see/remove/block this subscriber?
