I can't change my email to what I want it to be.

As a kid I set up my spotify account to my school email and now I'm wanting to change it to another email (in case if I forget my password). But I'm having problems changing it from my school email to another email because it says that the new email is already taken. I'm not sure what to do?

Based on what you mentioned, it looks like you have another account with your other email address. No worries, in this case, you can reset the password for that account here and the close it by following these specific steps. 

Keep in mind that it will take up to 14-30 days for the email address to become available again. Then, you'll be able to use it on your account by following these steps.
