I changed my region to korea and want to verify my age

I changed my region to korea and want to verify my age

I changed my region to korea because I live in Seoul and there is a age restriction but I don't find anything to trigger the verification with my korean ID

Hey there,

Thanks for reaching out.

You should see a a "confirm your age" pop-up appear with a "19+" icon when trying to listen to certain, if not all explicit music.

If you still can't verify your age, I recommend making sure your ID is still valid. You can also perform a clean reinstall if the issue continues to persist.

Let me know how it goes 🙂

The thing is I can't upload my ID there is no option for that anywhere or I didn't find it!

Hey,
How is this ticket going? 🙂

Hey @eyirislecon,

Thanks for getting back.

Could you please post a screenshot of how explicit content looks within your Spotify app? If you could also share a video/screen recording of what happens when you try to play said content, that'd be great too.

Please also note that the age verification process isn't handled by Spotify directly, but since they have to comply with local laws, they're outsourcing this verification to a local regulator. 🙂

Looking forward to your reply.

Hey @eyirislecon,

Thanks for the screenshot.

Can you please try it on another device and/or while being connected to a different network?

Also, if you have any VPNs or Proxies enabled, make sure to turn those off as well.

Let me know how it goes 🙂

I tried on my phone if I click on the '-19' songs nothing happens the button is just disabled.
Also I don't have any VPN turned on 😞

Could we solve this fast? It's really annoying to be bound to listen to only instrumental songs...
I can even send you my korean ID

Hey @eyirislecon,

Thanks for letting me know.

This has been looked into and it's suggested that you create a new Spotify account with a different email address.

Once that's done, please use the new account to log into the Spotify app and try to play explicit content. Hopefully, the ID verification appears.

If it works, it's possible for Spotify Support to transfer all your stuff from your current account to the new one.

Let me know how it goes! 🙂

I tried to create a new account and login but it requires that I get a subscription since I already subscribe on my previous I don't want to pay again 😑
Can we find a solution and not just try workarounds because since we seem to not be on the same timezone getting just one answer is super long and I'm currently paying for a service I can't really use 😢

Hey @eyirislecon,

Thanks for getting back. It got, unfortunately, kind overlooked, that there's no free tier in your country - sorry about that.

Can you please make sure that the allow explicit content filter is toggled on in the Spotify app settings on both mobile and desktop?

Once that's done, please give it another try using your primary account. 🙂

If the issue age verification issue persists after making sure that explicit content is allowed, please reach out to Support, so that they can check if there's anything else that can be done.

Let me know how it goes!

P.S. my timezone is GMT+1, just in case you're curious.

I checked it's already activated unfortunately 😞
Thanks for the precision I'll try to be more active during evenings to
facilitate the communication

Hey again, @eyirislecon 🙂

Thanks for letting me know.

In this case, it'd be best for you to reach out to Support, as suggested in my previous reply.

They'll be able to take a closer look at your account and see if there's anything else that can be done about this.

Feel free to link them to this thread as well, so that they have a chance to read it and see what we've tried so far.

Have a great day!

Were you able to solve this?

Hi @MCJ21,

Welcome to the Spotify Community!

Could you try playing a 19+ song via the mobile app? This should open the verification window. Tap Continue and follow the instructions to confirm your age. If you've already verified your age, make sure Allow Explicit Content is switched on in the app's settings.

If the pop up doesn't appear, make sure you don't have any pop up blockers, ad blockers or other similar ones as these may interfere. If you are using a VPN disable it as it may prevent the service from working as expected.

Hope this helps.
