My Question or Issue

I like to use the Web API to receive the recently played songs. But unfortunately, this API is not working for my Premium Account.
With my second free Account, that I used to test the API, everything works fine.
Therefore I would like to have a new Premium Account. I know that my history gets lost. No problem with that.

Hey @stekra72,

Thanks for getting back.

What exactly do you mean by existing ID? What are you trying to do? 🙂

Hey @stekra72,

Thanks for reaching out.

You can subscribe to Premium on your other account at https://spotify.com/premium. Once that's done, you can cancel the subscription on your "old" account by following these steps.

Also, if you'd like to transfer your playlists and saved music to your new account, check out this FAQ article.

Hope this helps! 🙂

Hi Maxim.
Thanks for your kind reply. Do you know a solution where Spotify is offering a new account with the existing ID?

Hi Maxim,
I guess I am looking for an easy solution with no changes for me.
And I also guess that a new account always leads to a new account ID.
Rethinking my last reply, I assume that getting a new account with the same account ID is not possible.
I will stick to your proposal and switch accounts as you described.
Thx, Stefan

Hey @stekra72,

Each username can only exist once on Spotify, since it's designed to be a unique identifier of your account. So yes, signing up for a new account will assign you a different username.

You can customize your display name at anytime though. 🙂
