Recently Moved to Japan

Spotify is not supported in Japan.  Should I cancel my $9.99 subscription?  If I do that, will I not be able to listen to my downloaded/synced playlists on my laptop application anymore?  My phone has not connected to the internet for a few days now, but I'm guessing after so many days it will stop playing anything whether I cancel or not.  Basically, the tracks downloaded within the spotify app (both computer and android phone) will eventually stop playing altogether regardless of a subscription or not, correct?  In fact, the only way I could post on this website was through some proxy thing.  Good thing too, because I wouldn't be able to cancel my subscription if I was unable to connect to spotify.  If no response within  the next month, I will cancel because I just paid for another month and I'll see how long I can ride this thing out.

Hi, and welcome to the community!

If you keep your premium subscription (paying with a valid credit/debit card which I believe has to be from a country where Spotify is available), you'll be able to keep using Spotify in Japan indefinately. A premium subscription allows you to use Spotify in any country for as long as you like. Your songs will be available offline also as long as you have the subscription, but you need to go online every 30 days to verify your subscription is still active.

@sayamushy While we haven't launched over there yet, your US Premium account should work fine in Japan (you get unlimited travel). You just need to keep your subscription attached to your US card. The posting difficulty will be because you're not currently in a launch country.

Now, regarding your issue, are you having trouble with your phone connecting to 3G/4G or WiFi?

The thing is, my spotify application wont connect to the internet even though I'm connected to the internet anyways.  I'm not sure why it's not working.  The weird thing is is it connected fine for the first 3 days and then would not connect after I updated spotify.

It's interesting that this happened after you updated the app. Is Spotify unable to connect regardless of whether you're using wifi or 3G?
