Spotify Acting Very Strange

Spotify Acting Very Strange

  1. Couldn't find my particular strangeness happening to anybody else. Probably just be told to reinstall, but I'm just so curious, it's that strange.

Couple months ago, it started doing something weird with podcasts. I would shut down Spotify mid-episode, and come back to it later to find that not only was it still "playing" (no audio was playing, but the pause button was available and the timer was ticking up like it was still playing), but the timer had gone past the episode length and it was playing the next episode while still saying it was the one I stopped. To be specific:

Shut down the app at, say, 15 minutes of episode 6, which is 45 minutes long. When I reopen the app, it's still episode 6, but the timer says 120 minutes of 45, and counting. But no audio is playing. When the audio does start, it is actually playing episode 7 or 8, like it had kept playing through silently.

Then, more recently, it started turning itself on while I sleep. I wake up to a podcast being on, and the same issue above has happened.

Has this weirdness happened to anyone else??

Hi there @afrankjr,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community.

Can you perform a clean reinstall of the app. This will make sure there's no old cache files causing this.

If that doesn't do the trick and you have an SD card we suggest that you uninstall the app > turn off your phone > take out your SD card > turn on the phone again (without the SD card) > reinstall the app since the card can be corrupted.

If you still get the same behavior, can you let us know if this happens on one specific device or multiple devices?

It would also be great if you can provide us a screen recording so that we can have a closer look directly from your end.

We'll keep an eye out for your reply.

Cheers!
