Spotify Family Question

Spotify Family Question

Okay, so I want to upgrade my account to Spotify Family. I spoke with a customer service rep and I am pretty sure I understand how it works, however, there are a few things I am confused on.

First....as of right now, I am a premium member and I share my account with my two teenagers. They each have a playlist on there, so if they open their own accounts as I was told needed to be done, won't they lose access to their playlists?

Also....I need to get straight how it works....So, I need to cancel my current premium subscription and sign up for a family plan. Do I re-download the same exact app on my phone or is their a separate one? Then, I need to invite my kids by the email addresses on their own accounts?

This just seems so darn confusing.

Any help is appreciated. The customer service rep I spoke to confused me even more.

Hey @moodabear,

They won't lose any of their playlists/saved music because they will still be using their own account's, not new or different ones.

You actually don't need to cancel your current Premium subscription (if you subscribed directly via Spotify) to be able to upgrade to Premium for Family. All you have to do is upgrade at https://spotify.com/family and everything will be switched over automatically.

There's no reason to re-download the Spotify app, and you will be using the same app 🙂 Just make sure you're using the same account as before, so you don't lose any of your music or Premium features.

Once you've successfully upgraded to Premium for Family, you will be able to invite your kids by following the instructions from this support article: https://support.spotify.com/account_payment_help/premium_for_family/premium-for-family/.

Hope this helps!

how do a family member download on there phone--this is first time for them?

Thanks, Maxim. The problem is that I subscribed through the Itunes store. So, I had to cancel that. Now, it seems I have to wait until my next due date for payment for it to show that I cancelled which is on the 28th, so I guess I will have to wait or start a new account, but I'll most likely wait because I don't want to lose any of my playlists. Pretty sure that is my only choice.
