Spotify Premium on Free Account and Vice Versa

Solved!

Spotify Premium on Free Account and Vice Versa

Plan

Premium

Country

USA

Device

iPad 8th Generation

Operating System

iOS 17.7.2

For some context, I have spotify on my iPhone and iPad, my phone’s account has premium, and my tablet doesn’t, and yesterday, before I added my phone account to my tablet’s spotify, everything was working perfectly. Now after I added it, my tablet’s account has premium feature WITHOUT it, and my phone’s account is back to normal WITH premium. Is there anyway I can fix this? (P.S. If I have to update my tablet, is there anyway I can get enough storage without deleting anything to do it?)

Hey there @kitart28,

Thanks for posting this thread in the Community!

First it's worth mentioning that if you've got more than one Spotify account this can cause confusion in general. To clarify, let us know if you're using both a Premium and a free account on the same device via the Add account feature.

Do you mean that you see Premium functions on the free account and the Premium account is acting like it's on the free version?

As a starting step I recommend logging out of the account(s) everywhere from the Account Page > Security and privacy > Sign out everywhere and to then log in with the same credentials both on your iPhone and iPad.

To then further investigate, it would be very helpful if you could give us some more details in regards to the behavior with the same Spotify account(s) on these 2 devices. What exactly is it that is misbehaving?

When it comes to updating the Spotify app on your tablet, with an update your content is not deleted, however if you'd like to free up storage, you'd have to do a reinstall which removes downloaded content from Spotify.

We'll be on the lookout for your response.

ADDITIONAL NOTE: It only happens when I’m logged into both accounts on the same device. Also, my free account won’t go back to normal.
