Spotify in Italy

Hi everyone...!

I'm based in London but in a month I have to come back in Italy. I would like to subscribe a Premium account but I'm not shure if Spotify is avaylable in Italy. Do you know if is it? Also Free?

Hi Mungie - Users that are on our Unlimited or Premium subscriptions can definitely use Spotify in Italy. 

Just be sure you upgrade before you leave. So long as the monthly payments continue without interruption, you should be just fine.

Anywhay I would like to buy a gift e-card but when it finish, can I upgrade it again from Italy?

You need a Credit card from one Spotify country like Finland, Sweden etc. before you can purchase e-card.

Howevewr you always can ask your friend to purchase one card and then you can use it everywhere.

No, free accounts do not work in Italy. You will need to upgrade from the United Kingdom (either via a subscription or an e-card) before you leave. 

However, if you use an e-card you won't be able to upgrade from Italy once it expires. With a rolling subscription, so long as each monthly payment goes through, you can use Spotify without a problem.

I have a Spotify account (the free one) that I set up in the US, where I live most of the year. When I'm in Italy (the rest of the time), my Spotify account does not work. When I go to the site to try to upgrade it, it says Premium accounts are not available in your country (i.e., Italy). I'm in Italy now, so should I have a friend in the US upgrade my account from there to solve this problem? I'm worried that since Spotify is not in Italy that I won't be able to use the account even if I upgrade it.

Hey! Welcome to the community 🙂 

You won't be able to upgrade your account whilst you are in a country where Spotify is not available. Your free account will only give you access abroad for 14 days before you loose access to your playlists. 

Since it would be against the terms and conditions, I can't advise you to get someone else to upgrade your account for you. However, if your account was to be logged in from a USA IP address, and upgraded to premium using a USA payment card or premium code, then you would be able to access your account abroad for as long as your subscription was valid.

Spotify will be soon in Italy, finally! They have found a Country manager. I think that in some week the service starts. 🙂

Hi Alf_Malph - Limits don't come into affect on free accounts until they've been open for 6 months.
