Spotify prompts me to get premium to be able to cast to my Amazon devices

Spotify prompts me to get premium to be able to cast to my Amazon devices

I used to be able to cast my Spotify music to my Echo devices (Show and Dot), individually or simultaneously, but now Spotify prompts me to get Premium to cast/listen to my devices.

I can prompt Alexa to “play music on Spotify,” but I can’t cast music directly from my iPhone to my Echo devices. I’ve tried:
- setting location sharing to “always”
- uninstalling and reinstalling Spotify and Amazon Alexa apps
- setting Spotify as the default music player (and even so, when I prompt Alexa to “play music” it still plays Amazon Music first. I have to say “on Spotify”)
- done bluetooth pairing

Also, I used to be able to control casting from my Echo Show, but now it doesn’t work anymore. Pls help!

Hey @AnnabelleTL,

Thanks for reaching out.

Please note that you need a Premium account to control your Echo Dot/Show devices if you're not located in one of the countries listed on this page. Have you by any chance recently moved to or visited another country? If yes, that might explain the limited experience that you're currently seeing. In this case, we'd suggest double checking your Spotify and Amazon account country settings and making sure that everything is correct.

We hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

I just upgraded to Spotify premium and deleted and reinstalled app and echo dot is not showing up in device list when on WiFi. I switch off local device visibility and it shows up but is grayed out and says I need to switch to Spotify premium to use?

Hey @Amytrick-us,

Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the conversation.

If your Spotify account is already on Premium, we'd recommend re-linking it to your Alexa app by following the steps mentioned in this article to see if the issue persists.

Also, would you mind confirming if you've followed the recommendations that @MihailY previously suggested? If not, give it a try to see if it makes any difference.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.
