Spotify thinks I'm abroad but I'm not + changing country problem

Spotify thinks I'm abroad but I'm not + changing country problem

I've been using Spotify over a month now and just today, it logged me out and a message popped up saying that "You can only use Spotify abroad for 14 days." The same message pops up when I try to log on. The thing is that I haven't been outside my country (Canada) at all so I don't understand why it's showing me that message. But when I log on to the website, I checked my account and it says that the country I'm in is the USA, but that's incorrect because I live in Canada. And so I checked the help area and it says that when you click "edit profile" and scroll down to "country" it should let you switch to your country. The problem is that it doesn't. It only shows "USA" as the only option. And I need to switch to Canada in order to continue using the Spotify app, or else it will still think I am in the USA, which is not true. And a detail I forgot to include is that I'm on a free subscription, not premium.

Hi @MusicVal thanks for posting in the Spotify Community!

Most of those problems come from a difference between the country shown by the IP address, and the one in your profile.

First, check your IP address here.
After that, compare it to the country shown in your profile.

If you opened your account with Facebook, your country is tied to the country shown in your Facebook account, so you may need to change it there.

Finally, your payment method (if you sign up for Premium) must match your country too. You can sign up for Premium here.

Change your country setting so it matches what your IP address shows.

If none of this applies or works then I'd suggest getting in touch with Spotify Care through this contact form as it sounds a bit odd in that case. They should be able to help you out though.
