Switching primary acct holder in a family acct.

My son had a spotify acct to start. I took his acct and made it a family acct. Since I pay the bills, I would like to switch to the primary acct holder of the family acct. How do I do this? Thanks

Hey @lfreese0789,

I’m afraid it’s not possible to switch the Premium for Family plan owner, without cancelling the plan.

You’ll need to cancel your current Premium for Family subscription at https://spotify.com/account/subscription/cancel/.

Once the accounts’ have reverted back to Free, the new ‘owner’ can subscribe at: https://spotify.com/family/, starting a new plan. They’ll then be able the invite their members, so that you can all get rocking with Premium for Family again.

If you revert back to free then switch back to premium to invite people do you lose your frequent songs and recommendations?

Welcome to the Community and thank you for joining the conversation.

If you keep using the same account, there's no need to worry about it as your taste profile, recommendations, playlist, etc, are stored on your account and not in your subscription. So you can change the plan anytime you want keeping all your favorite content 🙂
