Transfer of UK accounts to Sweden

Transfer of UK accounts to Sweden

Why is Spotify changing the company responsible for providing its UK account holders to Sweden? Who wins, who loses?

Hey @Clarksville,

I'd recommend taking a look at this post: https://news.spotify.com/us/2016/10/24/updated-terms-conditions/

Thanks. 🙂

Thanks for this. It looks like the proposed jurisdiction arrangement is a contract subject to the laws of Sweden, with enforced arbitration with limits and final governance by the laws of California. I'm not sure this is helpful for an ordinary customer based in the UK.

The only change here is that instead of Spotify showing as a local company to you (Spotify UK), it now shows globally as Spotify AB (as previously displayed in Sweden) to better reflect their practices. Practically, this is still the same Spotify 🙂

How do I get to speak to someone at Spotify about this subject? I like Spotify but I do have a concern about the new contract. Ryan Air, for example, are in the news this week because they are trying to push all UK claims to Irish jurisdiction to try and make it harder for most of their customers to exercise their normal legal rights. The arrangement proposed by Spotify is even more convulted.
