Verified Artist Account & Username Privacy Issue

Verified Artist Account & Username Privacy Issue

I have my Spotify Premium Account now linked to my Artist profile - little veified badge and everything, great stuff.

Problem is, if anyone shares the URL for the Artist now, it contains my PERSONAL username, that I use to hide away on the internet.

I understand that there is no feature that allows you to change username, but in the case of verified artist accounts, surely it should be an option prior to verification!

Hi there, and welcome to the community!

When you become a verified artist, your Spotify account is linked to your artist page. That means your user profile becomes your artist profile, and people share it just like they share a user profile.

I thought this was understood? I'm afraid there is no way to stop this happening, except perhaps to become unverified 😞

The accounts being linked was understood - I thought my 'Artist Details' would overtake my personal details though. At no point was it made clear that personal details (such as internet nickname) would be shared.

Good to read this. Thanks.

I've send a request for a verified account earlier this week with my private account as login-account name.

After reading this thread I've quickly created a new account for the artist login and send it to spotify. Fingers crossed that it's still in time (and we get a verified account soon).

How long does it normally take? I've did a request via email, not twitter.

It took about to weeks - I found a link to a Google Spreadsheet somewhere on the Spotify site (didn't do it by email). Had to verify it was me via Twitter...

I think the spreadsheet is the way forward, and Google is the way to find the spreadsheet!

Thanks for the quick reply. Good to know it takes approx. that long.

I've also found the spreadsheet, but it said that if you couldn't or didn't want to register via the Google Spreadsheet, you could send them an email. So that's what I did. The spreadsheet is probably linked to the same email address, so I hope all things will work out fine...
