My Question or Issue

My name on Spotify is currently my facebook name and i would prefer it to be my username. I disconnected facebook but the name is still my real name and apparently I need to do a clean reinstallation of my data to get rid of my facebook name, but I'm worried that that will reset my Spotify wrapped data that it will show at the end of the year. I have an ungodly amount of time in Spotify and I want to show this off to my friends who thought their time was impressive last year. Thanks

Hi,

What do you mean with clean installation?

Normally your facebook name is your real name so it's ok when spotify uses that name even after disconnect. But you had a different facebook name?

Unfortunantly spotify is not very flexible when it comes to changing username and display name. A lot of people end up with an alphanumeric username and display name after disconnect

René

Hey there @danch981,

Thanks for asking about this in the Community!

The aim of a clean reinstall is to delete your cache which can fix a number of issues with the app.

The only thing that will be gone after the clean reinstall will be your songs and playlists for offline listening. So, you'll have to download these again. Other than that, all of the music you've saved in your Spotify account, will stay there - no worries 🙂

After you disconnect Facebook, the display name on your account should appear. The changes might need some time to take effect though. You could:

  1. Restart the app.
  2. Log in, log out to shake things up a tiny bit.
  3. Run a clean reinstall.

We hope this helps! Let us know if there's anything else you need a helping hand with.
