Won't accept payment abroad

I am from the US, I have only American cards, but I am currently living in Egypt. The region on my profile is listed as Egypt with no option to change it. All I want to do is buy premium, but Spotify keeps rejecting my cards/Paypal because the payment country does not match, ie my cards are american but my region is set to egypt.

I tried to talk to a very unhelpful customer service rep who said there's nothing he can do; so it's impossible for me to buy premium if I am already abroad? That seems like a stupid system -- take my money!

The info you've received from Support is correct. You can, unfortunately, only use a payment method that's been issued in the same country you're currently in.

If you'd like to use a payment method from the US, you'll need to wait until you're back in the US. 🙂
